Building A Character

Actor Rebekah Sangeetha Dorai takes us through her journey in theatre and in life, speaking frankly about racism, accents, character, trauma, and time travel.

Building A Character takes as its starting point the second work in Stanislavski’s seminal series of treatises on acting. How is character created? How much is a character on stage influenced by personality formed offstage? Is drawing on autobiography the most effective way of creating theatre? The play aims to answer none of these questions.
